The Caddo Mills High School FCCLA chapter attended the Region III Leadership Meeting in Waco, February 9-10, 2007. 10 students competed in STAR Events. Jessica Fowler, Janeth Ibarra, and Ashley Spanberger placed first in National Programs in Action. Kaylen Clark, Danielle Lumsden, and Victoria Summers placed first in Chapter Showcase Manual. Debby Dear, Valerie Gonzales, and Vanessa Gonzales placed first in Focus on Children. Justin James placed second in Job Interview. These students competed against schools of all sizes from the East Texas area. All 10 competitors advanced to state, which will be held April 12-14 in Dallas. Drew Hughes and Megan Howland also attended the meeting to attend leadership sessions and bring back ideas for their local chapter. Debbie Spanberger, a parent volunteer, and Nicole Swaissi, a CMHS graduate, served as judges for different events. Brian McKamy, the high school principal, also accompanied the students for the weekend trip. The students and sponsor greatly appreciate his support for the FCCLA program. The Caddo Mills High School FCCLA is sponsored by Lacey Mills. She was extremely proud of her students’ efforts as they prepared for their events and the way they handled themselves at the convention. She is looking forward to the state meeting.
