     A. Karras Jackson, epidemiologist with Texas Dept. of Health Services Region 2/3

          1. Staph Infections in Schools

 

II. Meeting

     A. Review requirements of SHAC

          1. The Law requires SHAC to review 8 areas.

• Health education/Sex education
• Physical education and physical activity
• Nutrition services
• Parental involvement
• School health services
• Counseling and guidance services
• Safe and healthy school environment
• Employee wellness

 

School Health Services (wellness policy) was discussed and passed by the school board last year. (2005/2006)

 

Jane Wright, Trish Bruner and Beth Belflower will be going to a Curriculum training on January 26^th at Region 10 to review an abstinence program called “Abstinence, Cool for School” and report on that training at our next meeting.

 

III. Report on Employee Wellness program

     A. Flu Shots given at all 3 schools by the Hunt County Health Department (Employees paid $20), consider district paying 1/2

     B. Teachers and staff considered to be at risk for Hepatitis B are provided with the Hepatitis B vaccine series at no cost.

 

IV. Officer Nominations to replace former officers                   

     A. Secretary
