BOARD HIGHLIGHTS

January, 2008

The Caddo Mills ISD Board of Trustees was honored January 22, 2008 during Board Appreciation Night.  The High School FCCLA provided the Board with a wonderful meal prior to the regularly scheduled Board Meeting.  During the meeting, the Board enjoyed a presentation by the Elementary School Student Council and was presented with appreciation gifts from Caddo Mills Middle School.  Each board member was then presented with a pen created by the students enrolled in the High School Industrial Technology classes.

The Board recognized outstanding students for the second nine weeks.  Principals from each campus introduced the students and presented them with certificates for outstanding

academic achievement.

Rusty Newkirk from the Caddo Mills Masonic Lodge addressed the Board in reference to providing a corner stone for the new elementary school.   The Board voted to approve the gift of a corner stone from the Masonic Lodge.

Nathan Morgan of Claycomb Associates provided an update on the new elementary school.  He informed the board that all steel had been hung in the classroom area and that the area developer had started on his part of the infrastructure.  The most recent update is posted on the district website.

Under business items, the Board set the Trustee Election for May 10, 2008.  The votes from the election will be canvassed at the regularly scheduled Board Meeting on May 19.  The Board heard a district request for three additional staff development days to be included in the 2008 – 2009 school calendar.  The Board voted to approve the TEA waiver requesting the additional staff development days.
